What Is Herbal Medicine

A herbal medicine consultation is under is a practitioner who specializes in using plants and natural remedies to support the body's natural healing processes. By understanding the medicinal properties of plants, a herbalist can create personalized treatment plans for a variety of health conditions, including both acute and chronic illnesses. In addition, herbalists may use functional testing and pathology to identify underlying imbalances in the body and target the root cause of health issues. Through this holistic approach, herbalists aim to not only alleviate symptoms, but also promote overall wellness and long-term health.

Herbal medicine can support a range of health conditions from digestive complaints, female hormones, fertility, depression, anxiety, low immunity and allergies, support with virus and colds, low energy & fatigue, sleep issues, optimising wellness, weight loss, joint health, mental health, autoimmune support, skin concerns, cardiovascular health, support during the treatment of cancer, liver conditions, neurological concerns.

Description of Service

Your follow up consultation will take approximately 30 minutes. During your return consultation we will discuss your holistic treatment plan and review the next steps you have been recommended to take to see how this has been working for you. We will discuss your current prescription and formulations/herbs and determine if we need to make any further changes to ensure we are maximising your overall sense of vitality and working towards your health goals.

Your Practitioner: Mikhala McCann

 

Mikhala McCann is a degree-qualified herbalist with a Bachelor of Health Science in Western Herbal Medicine, complemented by advanced diplomas in naturopathy and nutrition, and postgraduate training in holistic counselling through the Metavision Institute as well as utilising naturopathic and herbal medicine for use in oncology, focusing on supporting patients through allopathic treatment and utilising her knowledge and ksills to minimise side effects and support the overall outcome of returning to health. Her practice integrates evidence-based natural medicine with traditional therapeutic frameworks to provide a comprehensive, patient-centred approach to health.

With clinical experience in managing both acute and chronic conditions, Mikhala works collaboratively with individuals to identify and address the underlying causes of illness. Her focus is on prevention, education, and the optimisation of long-term health outcomes. Drawing from current scientific research as well as established clinical practices, she utilises herbal medicine, naturopathic princials, nutritional interventions, detoxification and lifestyle strategies tailored to each patient’s needs.

In addition to her formal training, Mikhala has undertaken studies in energy medicine, and traditional shamanic practices, which inform her understanding of the mind-body connection and the role of energetic health in overall wellbeing. These complementary modalities are integrated where appropriate to support psychological resilience, emotional regulation, and a sense of coherence in the healing process.
